Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 in 1967. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also one of the first Roberts to settle in Atlanta. Her father took the first interest to the theater. When he was a college student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he took part in several productions. After he enlisted in the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, they got married and their son Eric Anthony was born. The couple divorced in 1957. the air force and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was recruited to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the television show Bum Bum His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show for children known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project that they funded themselves. Later that year they founded the Actors and Writers Workshop which ran for six years. In the meantime, they also had two kids Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
