Firefly The Firefly, the new hit Whedon series, was a result of a one-off show. In Summer Glau's role, River Tam was a complicated persona that Glau managed with ease. Tam has to take part in experiments sponsored by the government to prepare her to be the greatest assassin. Tam's capacity to control her emotions is taken from her. Glau was able to show her fighting abilities as well as her acting abilities in Firefly. Her experience as an assassin provided her with the chance to utilize all of her athletic abilities. Her classical education has made her a skilled ballerina. Her broken toe however that caused an end to her dancing career. Firefly had only one episode but it became a massive success. Whedon returned to it several years later. Summer Glau, however, continued to receive quality work. Her work included TV shows Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
